Just who is The Button Whirlwind?

The Formula One British phenomenon named Jenson Button was born on January 19th in 1980 in Frome, Somerset in the United Kingdom. He has started his career in carting, and at the age of nine he was able to finish first in the British Super Prix. Nine years later, he became the youngest winner of the European Super A championship and won the Ayrton Senna Memorial Cup in Suzuka. As soon as he was 18, he was able to grab the first place on the British Formula Ford championship while he placed in second on the European Formula Ford. In 1999, he placed third in the British Formula Three Championship. At the age of 20, he made his debut in Formula One representing the Williams Team and placed eighth in the overall standings. From there, he then moved on to Benetton which eventually became the Renault Team. He then moved to BAR where he was able to show his prowess and outperform his then colleague Jacques Villeneuve. He has then been able to eventually get himself out of his Williams’ contract to be able to sign in with Honda. In 2004, he was able to grab his first pole position, and for two seasons after that, he was also able to get a pole position in the race.

Brawn GP’s Pride

Jenson Button was previously driving for Honda until it withdrew from the Formula One races and was then taken over by Brawn GP. In the new team’s debut race in March of 2009, Button was able to take the pole position and end with a 1-2 finish with his team partner Rubens Barrichello. For the last 9 races of the current season, Jenson Button was able to grab the pole 4 times. The great pride for Brawn Grand Prix Formula One Team’s debut is the fact that they were able to make a 1-2 finish during the opening race in Australia; the last time a debuting team was able to hit a 1-2 spot was in 1954 giving Mercedes then the glory of the reputation.

Jenson Button’s Drive

For the 2009 Formula One season, he is now representing the Brawn GP team which uses a Mercedes Benz engine while the team was not able to develop and install the controversial KERS or Kinetic Energy Recovery System. Nonetheless, he was still able to get his bearings and was able to give pride to his production team even without the so-called technological advantage.

Button now stands with 67 championship points and is currently in the number one spot while half the season is yet to happen. This phenomenon has become a common name among race fans as he was able to bring himself up to the podium along with the reputation of the debuting Brawn GP team. Out of the current 9 races, he was able to pole 4 times and win first 6 out of nine races.
