Introduction of Sébastien Bourdais
Sébastien Olivier Bourdais, born in 1979, is a race car driver from France who has made a name in the history of Champ Car World Series. He has got huge popularity in the last few years as he won 4 successive championship trophies from 2004 to the year 2007. Most recently, he drove for Toro Rosso team in the Formula one race. Born in the family of racing, he began his career at the age of 10 with karting. Being successful at that, he progressed to Junior Formula and then to Formula 3000.
The F1 Career of Sébastien Bourdais
As far as his performance in the Formula 1 race is concerned, he got his F1 test with Arrows team in 2002 and signed to drive for it. But unfortunately, the team was just about to go bankrupt. Sébastien Bourdais (Formula 1 driver) returned back to the Formula 1 race in the year 2007 after giving many tests with Toro Rosso. In 2007, Bourdais was announced to be racing for Toro Rosso in the year 2008. In this race, he replaced Vitantonio Liuzzi and partnered Sebastian Vettel. In 2008, he drove for his first F1 race in Australian Grand Prix of Melbourne in which he secured 17th position. He is the man who learnt from the mistakes of other fellow drivers and improved a lot on his own and reached the 4th rank. However he had to retire because of an engine problem in his car, he got 8th position as he had already completed 90% of the distance in the race. He was given 7th place after Rubens Barrichello was disqualified.
Other accomplishments of Sébastien Bourdais
Sébastien Bourdais qualified 9th for Belgian Grand Prix race during which, he rapidly gained ranks and was on the 5th position for most part of the race. As rain started during the last lap, several other cars overtook him and he ended up on the 7th position. This was his first point for World Championship since the Melbourne race. Bourdais qualified in the Italian Grand Prix 2008 for the 4th place. At the Japanese Grand Prix of 2008, Sébastien got 6th rank on the road but got a 25 seconds penalty to cause an accident with another racer, Felipe Massa. This incident dropped him to the 10th position. Sebastian Bourdais (Formula 1 Driver) again tested for the team of Toro Rosso during winter season and confirmed his position in the team for a second time. This team, he partnered Swiss Rookie Sébastien Buemi. But due to some mishaps, it was announced that he is no longer racing for Toro Rosso team. The partnership did not seem to meet up the expectations and Bourdais will be replaced soon.
At present, Sebastian Bourdais is considering to file a claim against the Toro Rosso team for breaching the contract.
