The developer behind Abu Dhabi’s new F1 racetrack has pledged to deliver “the world’s most unique track” upon its completion in 2008. The project was part of the US$40bn Yas Island development, which will convert 2500 hectares of the island into a leisure and entertainment tourism destination.

The Yas Marina Circuit was built by the construction company Aldar Properties who are also constructing a theme park, Ferrari world, marina, residential areas, water park, sport and leisure facilities, as well as hotels and beach resorts in the surrounding area.

Designed by renowned circuit architect Hermann Tilke, Yas Marina has a waterfront setting scenic enough to rival the likes of Monaco and Valencia. And with the track wrapping itself around the island’s glamorous newly-built marina, there’s plenty of mooring space for the paddock’s plethora of yachts.

Approximately 50,000 spectators can view the action on the circuit from the comfort of permanent, covered grandstands and VIP facilities. Yas Marina Circuit is the only motorsports venue in the world where all of the grandstands are covered.
