It took one amongst the richest Indians to form India’s first Formula One motor racing team in October, 2007. Force India Formula One is based in Silverstone, Northamptonshire in the United Kingdom, Vijay Mallya being the team principal, and Mark Smith the Technical Director. Force India F1 team debut was made in the Australian Grand Prix, 2008

MCLAREN

McLaren started in 1963 by Bruce McLaren from New Zealand who was known as a F1 constructor but also took part in the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race and Canadian-American Challenge Cup. The team made its debut in the Grand Prix in the 1966 Monaco race. McLaren saw its first Championship win in the Belgian Grand Prix

RENAULT

Though intermittent, Renault Company’s involvement with F1 racing has been of long specially with Ferenc Szisz who won the first French Grand Prix which is more often than not marked as the birth of Grand Prix motor racing. The team is based at Enstone, Oxfordshire. They won championships in 2005 and 2006, thanks to Fernando Alonso

TORO ROSSO

Scuderia Toro Rosso is one of the two teams owned by Red Bull, the Austrian company for beverages. Its racing debut was made in 2006 season of Formula One when the Minardi team was sold by Paul Stoddart in the end of 2005. In the deal made with red Bull, a clause included in the terms was that the headquarters of the team must be retained in Faenza, Italy till at least the end of the season 2007

VIRGIN

WILLIAMS

This team was formed in 1977. Williams’ first appearance in Grand Prix was the 1977 British Gran Prix. They won the first Grand Prix at Britain in 1979 and this was won by Switzerland’s Clay Regazzoni. Recently Williams F1 Team signed a contract with Toyota which supplies engines for them in the upcoming season and they are looking for better results during this next season

After winning the championship in the debut season, Mercedes bought a controlling stake and rebranded the team as MERCEDES GP.

TOYOTA

On November 4, 2009, Toyota announced its immediate withdrawal from Formula One, ending the team’s involvement in the sport after eight seasons.
