Toro Rosso

Scuderia Toro Rosso is only one of the two teams owned by Red Bull, the Austrian company for beverages. Its racing debut was made in 2006 season of Formula One when the Minardi team was sold by Paul Stoddart in the end of 2005. The new buyer was Dietrich Mateschitz, owner of Red Bull. However, late in November 2008, complete ownership of Toro Rosso was regained by Red Bull. The other sister team of Scuderia Toro Rosso is Red Bull Racing. Scuderia Toro Rosso, being relatively brand new, has the expected aim of the development of skills for promising drivers in the senior team. The team’s first point was scored in its very first season at the United States Grand Prix in 2006. However, Sebastian Vettel scored the first pole position and victory for the team in 2008 at the Italian grand Prix.

Foundation

Although Minardi had taken part in Formula One races from 1985-2005, it was one of the least competitive in approach which was caused partly by a comparatively restricted budget. Paul Stoddart, the owner, has claimed to received forty one approaches to sell his team but he had always wanted a buyer who who had the capability to "take it further" than he ever did and fulfill it while maintaining its base, as per tradition, in Italy. In the deal made with red Bull, a clause included in the terms was that the headquarters of the team must be retained in Faenza, Italy till at least the end of the season 2007. Red Bull may have abandoned the name of Minardi, in line with their own sponsorships and marketing ideas but they used the Italian language to create their name. Scuderia Toro Rosso is Italian translation for Team Red Bull which they named after they took control of the team on November 1, 2005. Many fans of Minardi were quite disappointed by the move, though.
