The Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that is part of the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It is held at Circuito Permanente de Jerez. It is one of the most popular MotoGP venues and the focal point for a city fanatical about sport. This is a 4.428 km (2.752 miles) racing circuit located in the city of Jerez de la Frontera, deep within the sherry -producing south of Spain. It was built by Alessandro Rocci, who was also in charge of Circuito Permanente del Jarama ‘s project.
Set in a slight valley in the south of Spain, Jerez is blessed with consistently beautiful scenery and good weather. Circuito Permanente de Jerez was opened on 8 December 1985. It can host up to 250,000 spectators. During 1986 the circuit hosted the first international motorcycle event in Spain in March and the Formula One Spanish Grand Prix in April.
With two alternative road circuits Jerez is popular venue used by many races teams for testing throughout the year. Recent modifications to the Paddock and pit box areas of the circuit have turned it into one of the best equipped circuits in the World Championship.
