Overview

The MotorLand Aragon circuit is a very modern race track that received huge praise from the riders following the inaugural MotoGP held there in 2010. The circuit is 5.078 km in length and includes 17 corners. The lap record is held by Casey Stoner with a time of 1:48:942.

History

The first MotoGP event took place at the purpose-built MotorLand Aragon track in 2010 and proved to be an instant success. Both spectators and riders were very pleased with the event and the race proved to be an exciting affair. Racing had been held nearby with street racing holding a long history between 1963 and 2003 at Alcañiz but safety advice led to the new course development.

The circuit was designed by renowned course architect Hermann Tilke and won the IRTA Best Circuit of the Year Award, the first time that the award was won by a circuit in its debut year.
