2011 Season
The Brno circuit is popular with the riders and there looks like there will not be a clear favourite to take the race this year. The Yamaha and Honda teams will look to build on their strong start to the season and Jorge Lorenzo will be expected to put in a solid performance to add to his win from last season.
Overview
The Brno circuit contains a number of elevation changes and fast undulating corners, which provides a stern test for both rider and machine. The circuit is 5.403 km in length with 14 corners. The lap record is held by Valentino Rossi with a time of 1:56:145, which was set in 2009.
History
The Czech Republic Grand Prix has a long history with racing taking place in Brno since 1930. Until 1982 the race took place through the villages and streets to the west of the city and then moved to the purpose-built Masaryk circuit. The track sits within a natural bowl and as such provides excellent views for spectators.
