Italian MotoGP
The Italian MotoGP is a hugely popular race that allows attracts a large crowd to the Mugello circuit, which is located just outside of Florence. The setting is particularly picturesque with the track set in a beautiful Tuscan valley affording excellent views for the boisterous spectators. Passions are always high but never more than when Valentino Rossi is challenging for victory and his incredible winning record continues to draw the partisan Italians to this exciting race.

2011 Season
The expectation is that the battle will continue between Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa at the top of the World Championship table but Valentino Rossi has an incredible record at this race and he will be a huge danger. The boisterous crowd will also be backing Italian rider Andrea Dovizioso and this promises to be another stunning race at the majestic Mugello.
Overview
The Mugello circuit provides a challenging test of bike and rider. There is a mix of slow and fast corners together with long straights and sweeping curves that allow the riders to hit high top speeds. Off-camber turns add a level of difficulty to the 5.245 km circuit. The fastest lap record is held by Valentino Rossi with a time of 1:48:130, which he set in 2008.
History
The Italian MotoGP is held at Mugello Circuit, which is considered one of the most modern circuits of the season with modern facilities and an excellent safety record. The circuit hosted its first MotoGP in 1976 and became the permanent fixture for the event in 1991 following extensive modifications to the course. The beautiful scenery and superb viewing facilities have made the event extremely popular and the dominance of Italian rider Valentino Rossi has helped boost the interest in the race across the country.
